Senior living communities use “Spring cleaning” as a time to tackle areas that are often missed during routine housekeeping. It’s a structured, safety‑focused refresh of the building, its outside grounds, resident living spaces, common areas and staff-only zones. It helps create that first impression, reduce fall risks, improve infection control, boost resident well‑being, and prepare the community for the busy spring and summer months.
Cleaning behind and under furniture
Washing curtains and shower curtains
Dusting ceiling fans, light fixtures, vents, and baseboards
Deep sanitizing appliances, refrigerators, and ovens
Organize closets, drawers, and personal spaces with the help of the residents, family and staff
Identifying maintenance issues like loose flooring or small leaks.
Prepare a To-Do list of all items that can't be completed in 1 day.
Parking Lot – clean, clearly lined for guest
Grounds – weeds and dead vegetation
Porch(s) – dirty and cobwebs
Furniture – safe condition and clean
Windows – clean and sealed properly
Gutters – debris removed
Roof – visually inspect at the peaks and gutter lines
Confirm each handrail is secure
Triple check all ramps and stairs are secure
Door the exterior door open and soft close properly
