Senior living communities use “Spring cleaning” as a time to tackle areas that are often missed during routine housekeeping. It’s a structured, safety‑focused refresh of the building, its outside grounds, resident living spaces, common areas and staff-only zones. It helps create that first impression, reduce fall risks, improve infection control, boost resident well‑being, and prepare the community for the busy spring and summer months.

  • Cleaning behind and under furniture

  • Washing curtains and shower curtains

  • Dusting ceiling fans, light fixtures, vents, and baseboards

  • Deep sanitizing appliances, refrigerators, and ovens

  • Organize closets, drawers, and personal spaces with the help of the residents, family and staff

  • Identifying maintenance issues like loose flooring or small leaks.

  • Prepare a To-Do list of all items that can't be completed in 1 day.

    • Parking Lot – clean, clearly lined for guest

    • Grounds – weeds and dead vegetation

    • Porch(s) – dirty and cobwebs

    • Furniture – safe condition and clean

    • Windows – clean and sealed properly

    • Gutters – debris removed

    • Roof – visually inspect at the peaks and gutter lines

    • Confirm each handrail is secure

    • Triple check all ramps and stairs are secure

    • Door the exterior door open and soft close properly
